Curry-Alan William James Lazar was born on August 1st, 1972 and raised in Hamilton, ON, CAN by two amazing and loving parents. His father was invited to the 1972 Olympics for Judo and his mother still goes above and beyond every day to make sure he was happy and healthy. As a big brother often does, Alan tormented his two younger siblings while growing up. Alan moved 18 times in the first 19 years of his life which gave him a chance to experience many areas and schools throughout Hamilton and Burlington.
Alan has been very happy setting roots down in London as it has been a very welcoming, clean and family focused community to him. Alan is a very loyal, optimistic, analytical, intelligent and morally strong but sensitive individual. Alan is self taught in many areas and attacks every new task with passion, dedication and detail while always planning and looking ahead to the future. He enjoys writing, family, sports, exercise, martial arts, video games, challenges and learning in general, nature, adrenaline, fun, girly drinks, all types of music and is a "read-a-holic", although the order changes depending on the day.
Football has been a passion for Alan since it was introduced to him in Highschool. He was even kicked out of one because the principal claimed that "he was only there to play football". Alan's potential football career ended at the semi-pro level when a shoulder injury prevented him from playing any further. Alan began to coach at all levels from pee-wee, through junior and highschool to professional minor league. Alan helped as a volunteer to start the Hamilton Screaming Eagles, the first Canadian team in the world's largest football league (NAFL), in 2003.
Now, as founder and owner of the London Silverbacks since March 2004, Alan has been blown away by the overwhelming support received by everyone including the Toronto Argonauts. He has also had the pleasure of meeting and learning from many of the football players and personalities that he grew up idolizing with the Argos as well as London and surrounding area. He has described this experience to be; "Like a musician getting to meet all of his favourite rock stars!"
The Silverbacks has been dream realized and continues to amaze and astound with every leap and bound. Alan's main focus for the team is to steadily build a reputable, reliable avenue for Canadian athletes to get the chance he never did.
